Now that you've done your spring landscape cleanup it's time to think about doing a little outdoor updating.

Updating your patio furniture is a great way to extend you inside living space to the outdoors.  You could add a sofa and chairs designed for the outdoors, even a small fireplace.  Some of the more ardent outdoor lovers even build outdoor kitchens to take full advantage of the warmer weather.

Outdoor lighting goes hand-in-hand with updated patio furniture.  Landscape lighting along with area lighting (think faux street lamps) and accent lighting for your newly updated patio sitting area should all be on short list.

Be careful not to go over-the-top when it comes to updating your yard and patio furniture.  Many people now days are opting for a 'less is more' approach, and emphasizing quality over quantity and practicality over ostentatiousness.  Of course you still want your yard and home to reflect your personality, but remember that you'll enjoy your patio a lot more when you don't have to spend huge amounts of time taking care of things.
