Inspiring speakers

I have just returned from an invigorating, three days in Vancouver.  I was attending a Richard Robbins real estate event called 'Achieve BC'.  Richard Robbins is a real estate coach.

There were over 500 Realtors in attendance.  The conference was a wonderful opportunity to hone our skills.  However, it was also an invigorating experience.

There were two guest speakers at the event.  The first, was Scott Stratten, who wrote the book 'Un Marketing'.  His message was all about using social media as a business.  He says "stop marketing and start engaging".  He believes that Twitter and Facebook should be used as relationship tools.  His success (which is huge) came primarily from all the conversations he holds with people on Twitter.  I really appreciated his message and it makes a lot of sense to me.

Alvin LawThe other guest speaker was Alvin Law.  Alvin was born to a mother who had taken Thalidomide while she was pregnant.  Alvin has no arms.

Listening to him speak was a treat.  He was open, honest, vulnerable, and funny and an excellent speaker.  His stories touched everyone in the room.  I was incredibly moved by his presentation and was swiping at tears throughout his talk.

Alvin's message was simple but so powerful!  Appreciate what you do have and don't focus on what you don't have.  He embodied this message completely.  Instead of focusing on what he didn't have ( arms) he went on to become a Canadian school band trombone champion, a drum player, a piano player ( yes, with his feet) and a world class speaker.  I was inspired!
