How To Sell Your Home In The Dead Of Winter

Although you may not choose to sell your home in Nanaimo in the winter sometimes we're forced to do just that due to circumstances beyond our control.  Job transfers or personal situations are two reasons that come to mind.

Here are three tips on successfully selling your home in the winter.

First, it's important to understand that there won't be a lot of buyers in the winter time, and that you'll be competing for those few buyers with other homes that are on the market.  With that in mind, you'll want to be sure to price your home competitively and be sure that all deferred maintenance items and repairs are up to date.

Next, if your home is vacant (maybe you've already had to relocate for a new job) be sure to leave all of the utilities on.  Doing this will allow your realtor to turn on the heat for showing on those colder winter days and to light up the house when nightfall seems to come way too early in the afternoon.

Third, if you're still living in your house make sure your home looks warm and feels toasty.  The warmth of a fire and the soft glow of accent lights can make a potential buyer feel welcome and imagine that your house is her home.

Baking cookies or bread to fill the kitchen with the aroma of winter spices like cinnamon and nutmeg can also work wonders to help sell your home in Nanaimo in the winter.
