How To Get Your Vacant House Sold

In some ways getting your vacant home sold can be easier than selling a house that you're living in, provided that you follow a few simple steps.

First, make sure the utilities stay turned on when your home is vacant.  When you do this it's much easier to show your home to potential buyers and will let buyers know that your vacant house is being taken care of.

Selling your vacant homeNext, keep up the landscaping and outside appearance of your home.  Remember, first impressions are lasting impressions, and while it might be tempting to try and keep costs low when your home is vacant, you run the risk of losing a serious buyer in Nanaimo if the curb appeal of your vacant house isn't good.

Third, if your house is vacant and for sale, make a personal visit to the house at least once a week.  Check the outside appearance, look for water leaks, flush the toilet and run the faucets, and make sure that there's nothing else amiss in the house.  The quicker you can find a potential problem and correct it, the less likely you are to lose a qualified buyer.

Lastly, consider home staging.  Many savvy sellers, particularly in competitive markets, will hire  a professional home stager to decorate a few rooms in the house, or sometimes even the entire home.  Your Realtor can probably make a good recommendation for a home staging company that will work with you on a home staging strategy and budget.
