How To Avoid These Common Home Buyer Turnoffs
Are you accidentally discouraging qualified buyers from buying your home in Nanaimo? This might sound like a silly question. After all, you and your realtor have put a lot of time and effort into pre-listing work, getting your house on the market, and putting together a proven, effective sales and marketing program. Nevertheless, often times home sellers often times sabotage their home selling efforts by making some common mistakes. Mistake #1: Staying in your home during a showing Many people selling their home think that it's OK to stay in their home when a buyer's agent and her clients are looking at the house. It's a mistake to do this because a prospective buyer needs to be able to imagine that they are living in your home, and doing that is almost impossible when you, the seller, are in the house (even if you try to stay out of sight). Mistake #2: Cooking smells and pet odors
Nobody looking at your home wants to know what you had for dinner last night. Yes, you can't put your entire life on hold when you are selling your home, but you do want to pay attention to what you're cooking if you are serious about selling your home. Pungent odors like fish, onion and garlic . . . not to mention smells from your new puppy or kitten . . . can quickly and permanently turn your buyer off. Mistake #3: Clutter Not only does seller's clutter distract buyers from focusing on your home (instead they are bound to talk about the clutter) but doing this makes it that much harder for the buyer to imagine that they are living in your home . . . encouraging them to move on to the next listing down the street!
