A Few Tips On Selling Vacant Nanaimo Homes

If you’ve already moved and have a vacant house to sell you’ll be competing against occupied Nanaimo homes on the market.

Sometimes that’s good and sometimes that’s bad.

Here are a few tips to help your vacant home get more showings than the other Nanaimo homes available.

Nanaimo homes1. Make sure your home is completely vacant

I’ll often see vacant Nanaimo homes for sale that are not quite vacant.  There are odds and ends lying around, and sometimes a room or two will be used for storage.

Potential homes buyers need to be able to imagine themselves living in your home for sale, but that’s hard for them to do if there are cardboard boxes or knick knacks being stored in a corner.

2. Keep up with the landscaping

If you’re used to doing your own yard work consider hiring a temporary landscaper to keep your vacant Nanaimo home nice and tidy.  It may take longer than you think to sell your house when it’s vacant, and trying to do the landscaping for two homes at the same time can get a little tiresome.

You’ll be sure to have the best curb appeal possible when the yard looks top notch and will increase your chances of getting the offer that you’re looking for.

3. Keep the utilities on

It’s a bit of an extra expense to do this, but by keeping the utilities on you’ll save yourself and your real estate agent from some potentially embarrassing situations.

A house shows much better when the electricity is on and the rooms can look nice and bright.  Even if your vacant home has a lot of natural light, showings in the evenings are a distinct possibility and you’ll want to show your home in the best light possible – no pun intended!

Keeping the water on is a must-do also.  Often times while showing a vacant home prospective buyers will use the powder room.  If there’s no water in the bathroom . . . .
